Two

21 Feb

Ash is two!

This was the yummiest chocolate cake I have ever made.  Unfortunately, I didn’t take it out of the fridge soon enough so it didn’t actually taste as good as it could have for Ashie’s party.  But, Paul, Tanya, Ash & I have certainly enjoyed the leftovers!

Heat relief

20 Nov

It’s what we all needed & it’s finally here.
Just in time for my birthday. Hooray!

We are going away for the weekend to Wirrabara. Bushfires have been in that area, so we have been wondering if we would actually be able to get there, but thankfully the cool change has meant it is safe for us to go. We are staying at an organic stonefruit orchard. Yummy!!!!!

I have also been spoilt in advance of my birthday by my lovely hubby. Last Sunday, he surprised me with breakfast at Henley Beach, where we met a friend (who is a jeweller). She is making me an eternity ring. How lucky am I?

The whole buying a new house saga is still moving slooooowly. We have our fingers crossed that it will settle on time. Fingers crossed, but not holding my breath! I have a feeling it might not get done & we will have to delay by a few days or even a week. No big deal really, although I am getting super excited about not having to live out of a suitcase.

A big day

22 Feb

Today was a great day- Ashie’s 1st birthday partay!

I’ll have to post pics later as they are not downloaded yet…..but wanted to get down a few thoughts first.

My mum has been visiting & it’s been just lovely.  I absolutely love having her around- I wish we could see each other more often, but we always make the most of our short times together.  Ash has enjoyed having a visitor in the house; it always takes a little bit of time for him to get used to “grandma” again, but they get along very well!

I’ve been a little emotional leading up to Ashie’s birthday.  A year has gone by so fast.  I remember a particular day when Ash was about 2 weeks old & he was very unsettled.  He would only sleep on my chest.  I was so annoyed this day, I just wanted some space & peace & quiet, but nothing was working; this baby was superglued to me.  Paul told me to make the most of it.  He said that Ash was only going to be little like this for such a short amount of time & that this would turn out to be a precious memory.  He reminded me of something really important; something I try to remember every day.  I am so grateful for all of the amazing moments we’ve had in Ashie’s first year of life.  I want to make sure that I continue to make the most of all of our time together, even the tough times (like the 5am wakeup  calls we’ve been having!).

Anyway, happy bday little buddy.  I think you’ve had a very special birthday surrounded by many many people who love and adore you- some near, some far.  I wish you much growth, happiness, laughter and fun as we journey into your 2nd year!!!!!!

Happy birthday, silly duffer

26 Jan

I just said that I would write this post & then Paul can have the laptop.  He asked what I was going to write about & I said “duh- it’s going to be a birthday post!”.  He replied, “who for?”.  My answer was, “for Australia you silly duffer”.

Ok, so probably not funny at all, but we had a chuckle.

Today is both Australia Day (221 years old) & my darling husband’s birthday (32 years old).

So…….happy birthday to my most wonderful husband.  You are too cool for words, a post could never do justice.
