Daylight

8 Oct

Gotta love daylight savings.  Even a hard day at work seems better with some sunshine at the end of it.

Today has been the first “normal” day at home in over three weeks.  I’ve been off “gallivanting around the countryside”, & of course, it’s hit me like a ton of bricks now.  I am tired.  Exhausted.  Our house has also had a visit from the snot monster this week.  Plus, I didn’t follow my diet while I was away.  I indulged in way too much chocolate, coffee and wine.  Now I have to keep reminding myself that sugar and gluten are not my friends!!!

So, today was quite a laid back day.  We’re well-rested as all three of us were tucked up in bed by 8.30 last night.  And today, all I’ve done is the grocery shopping, visited the library, done a few loads of washing & made bright yellow playdough.  Oh, and I managed to go for a 50 minute walk when Paul decided to take an early mark this afternoon.  I popped on my new playlist (that I spent soooo long organising) & hit the pavement.  It was bliss.

As much fun as it is being away, I love to be home.

Robots & Rain & Life

1 Sep

Ash & I went for a walk in the rain this morning.  With my new trusty camera, I could take a pic of this (in the window of local gift shop):

Back at home, I became acquainted with a strange sounding little boy.  Apparently his name is “Ashie Robot”; a joyful jumping on the bed type robot companion.

Then followed a fairly ordinary day at work.  The sky was grey & it rained on & off.  This was the view from my office window.

Camera!

31 Aug

I have a new camera!

I finally decided to buy a new point and shoot.  Last year, I told myself that I would try to be environmentally friendly and take a stand against consumerism by relying on our old (from 2003) digital camera for quick digital photos.  I even bought a new battery for it as the old one was cactus.  Yeah.  That strategy didn’t work.  I couldn’t use the camera on the lap top & it wouldn’t download photos properly on the pc.

Furthermore, the problems I have with the SLR are:

1) I have no real idea how to use it properly

2) I always forget to take it out with me

3) It’s such a pain to lug around

4) Paul’s ALWAYS on the pc so downloading is usually delayed

So….ta da!  My new camera!  I even bought a cute bright pink case for it!  Ash really wanted a pink camera in fact, but the cheapie one I bought only came in black.

So now I can keep it in my bag all the time & capture lovely moments like this.  An early morning walk with my gorgeous boy.

The Girl Is Still Tired

18 Aug

Ok, today was another hectic one. Had a haircut in the morning, opened the library for 3 hours, marked 2 classes worth of oral presentations & taught my rowdy Science boys from 5 to 7 pm.

Food:
Supplements, warm water with lemon, one slice toast with baked beans, a Sumo Salad for lunch, a small tub of fruit salad, a nut bar, small veal schnitzel with mash and beans for dinner.

Exercise:
30 mins on the cross trainer.

Body:
Wow. Still soooo bloated. Blergh.

Mind/ Mood:
Felt quite flat & easily irritated today, but much better after exercise.

Killer day

17 Aug

Tuesdays are a killer. A total killer. I have 3 classes to teach. That’s six hours of teaching. I also have to open the Resource Room for an hour. I don’t get home until close to 8pm. Tonight when I got home I was a bit dismayed to find A neither bathed nor fed. But there was a delicious meal on the table.

Food:
I started the day with lemon in warm water. I took some supplemets- vitamin C, tyrosine & folate. I ate natural muesli & yoghurt, an apple, a few small pieces of watermelon, a cup of rooibos tea, a chicken & tabouli sandwhich (lots of parsley), some brazil nuts and dried apricots. Then an old student dropped in to see me & brought a cappacino for me. Oh my! I’ve been trying to avoid coffee, but it’s just so good & delicious. Mmmmm. For dinner, Paul cooked yummy tandoori chicken with rice, pappadams & homemade samosas (lots of peas!). I had a custard cream biccie for dessert.

Exercise:
I did 15 minutes on the cross trainer this morning. I would have liked to have done more but this was the only time I could squeeze in before Master A required attention. But I did spend the day walking up & down stairs & across Adelaide for my classes. I also walked to & from the bus stop. I should get a pedometer.

Body:
I felt very bloated today. I woke up feeling skinny & then at some point during the day I quickly became fat! Yuck. I’ve had mild pelvic pain. On the way home on the bus I felt really nauseous & sick- probably just hungry & tired combined with motion sickness.

Mind:
I’m so tired!!!!!! I just want to curl up into bed & sleep. It’s actually 10pm now so it’s not even going to be an early night. I was annoyed at myself last night for not going to bed at a reasonable hour- damn you internet!
